Corrosion Sensor DSK-1

Sensor DSK is used to define corrosiveness degree of soil, underground water in connection with the underground steel facilities, pipelines and reservoirs. This device troubleshoots and then forecasts corrosive condition of the outer surface of the underground steel facilities and utilities. The sensor also identifies the efficiency of the corrosion prevention system, controls the corrosion rate with the in-built three steel sensors with different cross-sections.

Design and Features

The sensor consists of three round wire sensors made from the same steel grade as the pipelines. One end of the sensors is connected with the contact frame, while the other end is connected with three cores of a 4-core cable. The fourth core is connected with the contact frame. The connecting areas are insulated. Soil corrosiveness in particular conditions and control of electrochemical protection are defined by the period of complete corrosion-caused destruction of the sensors from the date of their installation in soil to the conductivity loss of each sensor. Application and Operating Environment

The sensor is permanently installed underground at the depth of the monitored facilities (right near them or in a separate bypass on the surface of the pipelines) along the pipeline system, at the points where the posts, test stations or corrosion monitoring units are installed. The parameters of the mentioned facilities and devices are controlled through regular measurements or through the telecommunication channels.
